28th August 2024: RightCue offers expert cyber security advice to Basingstoke businesses
RightCue, a leading Hampshire-based cyber security compliance expert, will be highlighting the importance of cyber security to the Basingstoke business community in September as part of a networking event hosted by the Destination Basingstoke Ambassador Community.
The event – the third in the series aimed at local organisations – is focused on helping businesses understand more about how to protect themselves from cyber threats.
RightCue’s co-founder Sonal Agarwal, an information security consultant with more than 20 years of experience, will speak alongside three other experts on the panel.
“Cybersecurity is a frequent topic in the news today, with stories of cyber-attacks and technology failures regularly making headlines. While the impact on large multinational companies is well known, it’s important to recognise that small organisations are also frequently targeted – something backed by research,” explains Agarwal.
According to the Cybersecurity Breaches Survey 2024, nearly half of UK businesses, irrespective of their size, reported a cyber-attack in 2023/24.
“With so much information available, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed,” says Agarwal. “It’s never too early to start strengthening your business’s cyber resilience. A successful cyber strategy requires a holistic approach that combines people, processes, and technology, focusing on consistent, incremental improvements. While certifications are important, they alone do not offer full protection. The key is to implement a continuous improvement program to gradually enhance your organisation’s cyber maturity as it grows.”
As part of the panel, Agarwal will simplify the journey to cyber resilience and compliance for small and medium size businesses.
RightCue specialises in cyber security compliance, working with customers on achieving certifications, such as ISO 27001 (information security) and Cyber Essentials, a government-backed scheme to help businesses become more cyber secure.
“As industry professionals, we understand the critical importance of raising awareness and simplifying complex issues. Being part of the Basingstoke community, we are excited to participate in this event and look forward to joining the panel to discuss best practices and key considerations for developing an effective cyber security strategy,” stated Agarwal.
The event titled ‘Cyber security – how to protect your business…and yourself’ is taking place on Thursday, September 12th at Oakley Hall and is hosted by Destination Basingstoke Ambassador Community. Other guests on the panel include Simon Adams, Managing Director of PRD Technologies Limited; Chris Cooper, Cyber Security Consultant at Rougemont Security; and Marc Woosnam, Director of Services at Centerprise International.
