16th October 2024: RightCue dives into Cyber Security Awareness Month with a focus on helping charities
RightCue, a leading Hampshire-based team of cyber security compliance experts, is shining a light on helping the charity sector this Cyber Security Awareness month running from 01-31 October.
As part of the annual focus on promoting cyber security awareness, RightCue is supporting IASME’s Charity Cyber Essentials Awareness campaign.
IASME, a cyber security certification company, is working alongside the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and certification bodies, including RightCue, in educating charities about the cyber threat and how to mitigate it using certifications such as the Cyber Essentials Scheme.
“Cyber security awareness is a must for all organisations, but especially for charities as they are increasingly being targeted for the valuable data they hold on their donors, volunteers and beneficiaries,” explains Yogesh Agarwal, Managing Director at RightCue.
According to The Cyber Security Breaches Survey 2024, 32% of charities have experienced a cyber attack in the last 12 months, with the statistic more than doubling to 66% for charities generating income of £500,000 or more.
“The Cyber Essentials scheme is ideal for charities as it ensures organisations have the right processes and measures in place to guard against common cyber threats.”
Cyber Essentials is a government-backed programme certification that demonstrates organisations have the right cyber security foundations in place to mitigate common threats. A Cyber Essentials certification also demonstrates to staff, volunteers and donors that the organisation is taking the cyber threat seriously and is committed to keeping their data safe.
For the duration of October, RightCue is offering registered charities the opportunity to undergo Cyber Essentials certification for a discount.
“Protecting yourself and your stakeholders is an ongoing exercise, and undergoing Cyber Essentials gives organisations an excellent base to build on for that continued awareness and vigilance – and as part of this awareness month we look forward to helping charities get those basics into place,” concludes Agarwal.
