Jenny Leah on the cultural barriers still facing women in cyber security

RightCue's sales and operations director, Jenny Leah, features in SC Media UK's coverage of International Women in Cyber Day, alongside senior women from across the industry. The piece examines why women still hold just 17% of UK cyber security roles, and why the harder question is not how many women join the profession, but how many feel able to stay.
"Boys' clubs still exist and are something I've experienced directly."
Jenny describes how informal networks quietly shape access, from golf days to the casual invitation to the rugby that is not extended to female colleagues. Small exclusions, she argues, add up to being locked out of conversations, decision making and opportunity.
"Seeing is believing. If every senior figure in the room looks the same, it's easy to make the assumption that the room, or leadership, isn't for you."
Her practical answer is mentoring, which she sees as one of the few approaches that consistently makes a difference.
